Real Spellers

English Makes Sense!

While doing some web research, I came across a 3rd grade spelling list entitled "silent letters" which targeted (among other patterns) the "silent" <t> in the <tch> trigraph.

One of the words listed -- supposedly that has a <tch> in it -- is <chitchat>.

I'd be delighted if any of the teachers out there wanted to take this to their kids for analysis. Is there a "silent" <t> in a <tch> trigraph/ Is there a <tch> trigraph in <chitchat>?
