I was working with a student on the connective vowel i which makes long e before a suffix that begins with a vowel and we ran into the work studio.  He asked if o is a suffix.  We looked up words on the word searcher and found a list of words with the io ending but when looking up these words on the etymology dictionary it still isn't clear to me that o is a suffix.  Some of them at least seem to be abbreviations of longer words.    Any help would be appreciated.
